This unique global market place offers products which encourage girls to reach their full potential and discourage stereotypes, right up our street!

We have included all our favourite designs in the new shop, with the girls pirate t-shirts as one of the main features. These hair bands are sustainably embellished with quirky designs, featuring recycled bottle felt and re-purposed fabrics.

What does Dotty Daisy wear in her hair?

April 20, 2011

Dotty Daisy’s dress is proving to be one of the most popular designs amongst IW’s little customers and being knee high in gorgeous fabric off-cuts from orders is satisfying, but IW really needed to find a sustainable way to use them. So we have given Dotty some beautiful clips to match her dress. Handmade from sustainable organic hemp cord and our special guest  fabric of the month by Cath Kidston, they are finished with real Agoya shell buttons or wooden pegs. What little girl wouldn’t want to add these to her accessories collection? If you’d like to order, please leave a comment.

The Little Blue Bird

December 21, 2010

Here is the latest design from the Winter Wonderland collection, the Little Blue Bird Dress. It is made from organic hemp corduroy and upcycled linen applique, finished with real coconut shell buttons. This design is a sustainable tribute to our snowy winter wonderland this year. The tree design was inspired by the East Rose Cottage garden and the little garden bird features on the branch. If you’d like to order one for your little snow princess please leave a comment, it comes in size 6 months to 6 years.

The story is below.

The story of the little blue bird dress…

The little blue bird landed in a tree, the snow fairy smiled, “Have you come to see me?” “Yes” said the blue bird, shaking snow from his head, “I’ve brought you a coconut button and fine cotton thread.” “Why, thank you.” said the fairy, her cheeks glowing red, “ I will take this fine cotton and make you a bed.” Then the fairy used the button to finish a dress, that was designed especially for a little princess. It was made from soft linen and organic corduroy, stitched with a little blue bird for you to enjoy!

Organic, sustainable Children's wear

Little Girl Pirate Collection Autumn/Winter 10

The story of the Little Girl Pirate dress…

The little girl pirates came in the night, their chest of treasure, full of delight. They took fine silk from a furniture maker and made a pattern out of strong layout paper. They snipped and they sewed all through the night then hoisted the sails, what a magnificent sight.

“Remember the flag”, shouted the little girl captain, “the one I have here is held on by my hatpin”. So they found a blue button from their treasure chest and attached it with cross bones in fine cotton thread.

When one of the little girl pirates spied land up ahead, “that be a treasure beach!”, she said. The beach was made of the softest cotton cloth and they sailed towards it on a sea of denim and vintage lace froth.

Imogen’s Wardrobe launched its Little Girl Pirate Collection with a photo shoot on Portobello beach. Our little girl pirates had so much fun in the dresses, we had to include more pictures from the shoot. The photos were created by Cocoa Rose boutique photography, the brief was pirates on Porty beach and the difficulty level of capturing these amazing shots of our toddler models was higher than Jack Sparrow’s rigging!

Upcycled, ethical, sustainable, childrenswear

Sweet Pea Festival Top age 2-3 (Image by Cocoa Rose Boutique Photography)

Once upon a time I was a beautiful cotton skirt. The sewing fairy at East Rose Cottage took me and made me into this wonderful 100% cotton, upcycled top. She added recycled ribbons from her old sewing box for the straps and made sure the cute little embroidered flowers on the bodice were in just the right place and she finished it all off with the comfiest upcycled lining for delicate skin. I was made for the East Rose Cottage Sweet Pea Fairy Princess, she wore it at her harvest festival, but she has given me to you to wear with love.

You can machine wash me at 40 degrees, but 30 degrees is much more garden friendly.

Once upon a time the festival fairy made me from 100% cotton and lace dress fabric, she added beautiful blue buttons from her old tin recycled button box and made straps and pockets out of upcycled denim, being very careful to add two button holes on each strap to fit tiny shoulders. She then added the pocket daisies made from a fine cotton skirt and embroidered with thin cotton thread. I was made for the festival party queen fairy who wore me on opening night, and I’ve been given to you to wear with love. .

You can wash me at 40 degrees, but 30 degrees is much more festival friendly.
